Connect science, art, and writing with this specific fun and easy desert animal writing prompt for small children! Select an animal that lives into the desert habitat. I don’t know about the kids, but my son LOVES to make constellations, aka holes in paper. We tape them inside our window to allow the lights shine through. The stars inside the pictures “glow” such as the real night time sky. Just as the farmers, poets, and astronomers made up stories concerning the pictures they saw fashioned with stars, he too loves to make up stories.

Constellation : A constellation is a made-up picture by stringing together starts into the sky. Way back when farmers used them to tell seasons. A few more well known constellations are just visible during specific times of the season.
Desert : A desert is an area of land that gets little to no rainfall. There are limited plants and animals that will survive in these living that is harsh.
Are you able to look on a globe or map for the world and find a desert?
- Blue or construction paper that is black
- Desert animals printed or drawn
- Sharp pencil (some teachers use thumb tacks)
- Foam or cork board
- Strips of paper or printed sentences.
Directions for Desert Animal Writing Prompt
- Read books in regards to the desert and talk about the animals that will survive.tarantula, desert tortoise, rattlesnake, hawk, desert fox, scorpion, camel, and insects.
- Explain that the children can establish a constellation inside their nighttime sky. Let them choose from several images that you have pre-printed.
- Demonstrate how exactly to safely punch a hole in the paper using the pencil tip, keeping the paper regarding the foam or cork board.
- Let the young children punch holes round the outside of the desert animal picture they selected.
